Disney Takes Unusual Promo Route With Japanese 'big Hero 6' Animation | Boston Herald

With more than 5,000 fans expected to attend, Disney is teasing several of the studio's upcoming animated movies at the D23 Expo, a three-day celebration of all things Disney at the Anaheim Convention Center. On the animation front, the studio will showcase Walt Disney Animation Studios' computer-generated adventure "Frozen" and Pixar's prehistoric comedy "The Good Dinosaur" during a Friday presentation, as well as the "Finding Nemo" sequel "Finding Dory," the manga-style Marvel adaptation "Big Hero 6" and the new Mickey Mouse short film "Get a Horse!" TOKYO -- As a tie-in to "Big Hero 6," the first-ever Disney-Marvel animated feature, Disney is collaborating with the release of a manga in Japan based on the pic's story. Called "Baymax" -- the pic's Japanese title -- the manga will be serialized in Magazine Special monthly comic mag starting on Aug. 20. A prequel, "Episode 0," will appear in Weekly Shonen Magazine on Aug. 6. Both comics are the work of Haruki Ueno, who is also responsible for "Phi Brain: Saigo no Puzzle" ("The Last Puzzle"), a popular mystery manga that debuted in Magazine Special. The comic features the title robot, Baymax, and its boy companion, Hiro, whose adventures unfold in the fictional city of San Fransokyo.
